A Latrobe Valley-based charity is hosting a crocheting event to raise funds to build an orphanage for child victims of war.
On Sunday Bor Orphanage and Community Education Project will run an afternoon crocheting class with all funds going towards the development of an orphanage in South Sudan, scheduled to be built early next year.
BOCEP president Sharon Sandy said the art form was making a comeback.
“It’s an old skill that has recently been revitalised,” Ms Sandy said.
“We held a similar event last year and we had the demand to do it again.”
Suitable for both beginner and advance crocheters, the class will teach participants to make granny squares which can then be joined together to complete a blanket.
Participants are asked to take along a four to 4.5-millimetre crochet hook and some eight-ply wool.
The crochet class will be held on Sunday from 1pm to 5pm at Liddiard Road Primary School, corner of Liddiard Road and Shakespeare Street, Traralgon.
The cost is $30 per person which includes an afternoon tea.
