Prom Country art show opens for entries

Latrobe Regional Art Gallery senior curator Shelly McDermott will judge this year’s 40th annual Arts Prom Country Art and Photography Show.

Organised by Leongatha Rotary Club, it will be held from 26 to 28 August at Mesley Hall, Leongatha.

The show traditionally attracts more than 400 entries from artists and photographers from across Gippsland, Melbourne, regional Victoria and interstate.

New and established artists of all ages are welcome to enter and prizes will total close to $6000.

This year’s major raffle prize will be an oil painting by artist John Mutsaers, a previous winner of the show.

Mutsaers is a highly-awarded artist and his works have been collected by many.

Opening night will be Friday, 26 August from 8pm, cost is $20 and includes finger food and drinks.

The show will be open from 1pm to 5pm on Friday, 26 August, 10am to 6.30pm Saturday, 27 August and 10am to 3pm Sunday, 28 August.
