Search in Yallourn North leads to arrest

A woman has been charged after police carried out a search at a Yallourn North home on Thursday.

Moe police and members from Traralgon Special Unit executed the search on the North Road property where they allegedly found a small quantity of methamphetamine and stolen goods, including a tandem car trailer.

A 33-year-old Yallourn North woman was charged with possessing and trafficking a drug of dependence and handling stolen goods.

She will appear before Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court in November.

Police thanked the public for their assistance after identifying the property of interest.

Operation a success

More than 1000 drivers were drug and alcohol tested by Latrobe Highway Patrol members over the long weekend during Operation Scoreboard.

One driver was charged with drug driving while another was charged for driving under the influence of alcohol.

During the operation 21 drivers were caught speeding, five were found to be driving on a suspended or disqualified license and two were fined for using mobile phones while driving.

The operation started Thursday and was targeting speed, fatigue, impaired driving and distraction offences and was supported by general duties police from across the Latrobe Valley.

“Thankfully no one lost their life in Latrobe and everyone got to their destination safely,” Latrobe Highway Patrol Sergeant Mick Williams said.
