Big cuppa enjoys long history

With 35 years’ experience under its belt and having raised more than $1 million throughout its lifetime, the Cancer Council Traralgon Fundraising Group hosted its annual Biggest Morning Tea on Thursday.

Assistant organiser Kaye Jones said the Traralgon community had always been very generous and supportive and this year had been no different.

“We have up to 100 people [at the Biggest Morning Tea] every year,” she said.

“This year we have a raffle, lucky door prizes and a trade table of goodies that people give, make and donate to sell.

“One hundred per cent of our money goes to research, and almost everyone has been touched by cancer in some way, so we have a lot of support from Traralgon.”

Ms Jones said the group didn’t have any specific fundraising goals, however, they were “always happy with what we get”.

“It is something we didn’t have yesterday, that is our attitude,” she said.

Ms Jones said the group tried to do at least a small fundraiser every month and they were one of the highest fundraising groups for the Cancer Council in the country, however, were looking for more volunteers.

“We do a lot of Bunnings barbecues and a lot of us are very good cooks,” she said.
