Basketball courts at St Paul’s Anglican Grammar in Traralgon may have to be replaced after a car was used to cause thousands of dollars worth of damage on Wednesday morning.
Traralgon police said a champagne or silver coloured Holden Commodore entered the Crosses Road school about 12.30am.
A short time later the vehicle performed a number of burnouts on the basketball courts, causing significant damage to the green-painted asphalt.
“The surface cannot be cleaned and will most likely need replacing which will incur significant costs,” First Constable Matthew Arthur said.
Anyone with information is asked to phone Traralgon Police Station on 5172 2700 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Drug driver nabbed
One driver was caught drug driving in the Latrobe Valley on Tuesday during a region-wide operation targeting dangerous drivers.
Four penalty notices were issued for traffic offences, including one to a person driving an unregistered vehicle, while two defect notices were issued for unroadworthy cars.
Latrobe Highway Patrol Sergeant Paul Douglas reminded people to check the roadworthiness of their vehicles coming into winter.
“We’re also reminding people to use their fog lights only when it’s foggy or the conditions are hazardous,” Sergeant Douglas said.
