An appeal has been launched to help locate a driver who was seen driving at dangerous speeds through red lights and tailgating on the Princes Highway between Traralgon and Morwell.
Morwell police said a green four-wheel-drive Jeep was reported tailgating a number of vehicles starting at Hungry Jacks Traralgon on Monday, July 2 about 11.50am where they reportedly changed lanes without indicating on a number of occasions.
The car was also reported driving at excessive speeds through red lights at
the intersections of Princes Highway and Alexanders Road and Tramway Road in Morwell.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash camera footage of the incident is asked to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Leading Senior Constable Justin Stewart at Morwell Police Station on 5131 5000.
Woman charged
Detectives have charged a 39-year-old Morwell woman with aggravated burglary following an incident at Jeeralang on Friday.
Police alleged the woman forced entry to the Junction Road property about 8am with a knife before confronting people inside.
The woman knew the residents of the property, police alleged. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
The woman was remanded in custody and is expected to face Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court today.
Man injured with shotgun
A 66-year-old man injured his finger at Newborough on Thursday after discharging a sawn-off shotgun into his hand.
Police said he sustained a “substantial gunshot wound” to his hand and was taken to Latrobe Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
P-plater caught speeding on freeway
A MAN from Maffra allegedly clocked driving at 21 kilometres per hour above the speed limit was lucky to not lose his licence, police say.
The 20-year-old was caught travelling at 131 kilometres per hour in a 110 zone on the freeway near Morwell last weekend.
The P-plater was fined $322 and lost three demerit points as a result of the incident.
Latrobe Highway Patrol described the conditions as “atrocious” given it had been raining and said even a speed of five kilometres per hour above the limit would have been unacceptable.
Drivers charged on summons for alleged drug driving
Two drivers were allegedly caught drug driving in the Latrobe Valley on Thursday during a region-wide Automatic Number Plate Reader operation.
More than 5800 vehicles were scanned by Latrobe Highway Patrol members east of Trafalgar and at Hernes Oak on the Princes Freeway.
Twenty-four drivers were issued with penalty notices including two for speeding, 17 for driving an unregistered vehicle and five for unlicensed driving.
The two drivers charged with drug driving will face Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
Woman injured in collision
A woman was taken to hospital on Friday morning after her car collided with another car on the Princes Freeway at Hernes Oak.
Police said both cars were travelling eastbound in the same direction when they collided, causing one vehicle to roll onto its side.
The driver of one vehicle, a 37-year-old, was taken to Latrobe Regional Hospital with a suspected broken leg while the driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
