Traralgon police were called to a suspicious car fire at Hazelwood North on Monday night.

Investigators said the car was set alight just before midnight on Monday on Sanders Road.

They said the Holden Astra hatchback appeared to have been dumped and deliberately lit. It followed another suspicious car fire on Nadenbouschs Road, Churchill yesterday just before 5.30am.

Police said the area was surrounded by farms and it appeared the Holden Commodore had also been dumped and set on fire.

Pedestrian struck in Traralgon

A 60-year-old man was struck in Traralgon yesterday while crossing Franklin Street near the Princes Highway.

Police said the man was walking along the pedestrian crossing when ute turning from Franklin Street onto the Princes Highway failed to give way, striking the man about 9am yesterday.

The pedestrian from Traralgon was taken to Latrobe Regional Hospital for observation and received lacerations to his forehead.

“We were appreciative of the members of the public, in particular tradies who were working nearby, who helped direct traffic and assist the injured male,” Traralgon Acting Sergeant Andrew Lappin said.

The driver of the ute, a 39-year-old Rosedale man, is assisting police with their investigations.

A 25-year-old Tyers woman was arrested following a raid on a Main Road house on Tuesday morning.

Police from the Latrobe Specials Unit executed a search warrant at a Tyers property where a small amount of cannabis was found. She was issued with caution notice and released.
