A sushi and ramen bar that was forced to shut three Gippsland stores last week due to fears about possible coronavirus contamination has re-opened to the public.
Pika Sushi owner Michael Worden said the chain’s Morwell and Traralgon stores would open for dinner service tonight after a commercial deep clean across all stores.
The chain’s stores on Commercial Road in Morwell, Franklin Street in Traralgon and York Street in Sale were closed pending results of COVID-19 testing, which have all returned negative.
“These are tough times we’re all going through, and recently we’ve had a situation where some of our staff members may have been in contact with COVID-19. Turns out that all the tests have come back negative,” Mr Worden said.
“While we were waiting for the results, we did a deep clean of all of our shops here in Morwell, Traralgon and Sale.
“As there was no direct danger to our customers we thought the best thing to do was close for the safety of our community, staff and everyone else involved in our stores.”
Mr Worden said the business was buoyed by the outpouring of support from customers and the broader community in the wake of the closure last week.
“Thank you for your understanding and support during this time and we look forward to serving you again,” he said.
“We want to say thank you, from all of us here at Pika Sushi, and take care and stay safe.”
