THE intercept of a motorcycle led to the seizure of multiple illegal firearms at the weekend.
Police intercepted the motorcycle in the vicinity of the Mid Valley Shopping Centre complex in Morwell at 9.25am on Sunday, February 13.
While impounding the vehicle, police allegedly discovered photographs of the rider of the
motorcycle, a Morwell man in his 30s, with firearms.
Police subsequently executed a search warrant on the man’s property and allegedly uncovered numerous firearms.
Amongst their findings were four longarm firearms, imitation firearms, homemade firearms, firearms still in the manufacturing stage and ammunition.
The man was bailed and is due to face court in July where he will face weapon and drug
charges.
Electric scooter crash
A MAN has sustained life-threatening injuries after crashing an electric scooter in Morwell on Friday, February 11.
The 50-year-old Morwell man was travelling along Winifred Street when police believe he
may have lost control and fell off the scooter shortly before 11.55pm.
He was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Traralgon sexual assault
CENTRAL Gippsland Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives are appealing for witnesses after an alleged sexual assault at Bond Park in
Traralgon on Friday, February 11 about 6pm.
Investigators are urging anyone who was in the park between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on the night of the incident, or anyone with information, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800

Explosives surrendered
A WOMAN performing some housekeeping uncovered explosives at her home on Bayley St
in Moe on Saturday, February 12.
The woman told the police that the explosives were likely left from her dead husband, who used them during tree stumping nearly 40 years ago.
The Bomb Response Unit attended the scene, and removed the explosives.
Fire in Morwell
POLICE are urging people to ensure cigarettes are extinguished, after emergency services were called to a fire on Wednesday, February 9.
At 6.15pm, police and the Country Fire Authority (CFA) were called to an address on
Commercial Road in Morwell after flames were seen coming from the right window of the home.
The small fire was extinguished, and investigators discovered that a cigarette had
caused the blaze.
There were no injuries reported.
Lock up your cars and properties
LOCAL police are again reminding people to lock up their cars and homes.
They are advising people to not leave valuables unsecured in cars, and ensure all doors to residences are locked, including garages and sheds.
