THE Gippsland Goannas Over-60 cricket team had a good game against the Yarra
Valley Veterans last Sunday.
The game was played at the Bundalaguah Cricket Ground, and the YV Vets were very complimentary about the facilities on offer.
Winning the toss, the Goannas batted first and made 9/186 from their 40 overs.
Ray Smith made 40 retired from 36 balls and Fred Debono 23 from 38.
Ray Floyd contributed 37 not out from 34 balls while Peter Anton made 14 and Kevin Lanigan 19.
Neil Meredith took the first YV wicket when the score was 38, but the score then progressed to 1/150 from 28 overs.
Barrie Nunn tool 1/12 and man-of-the-match Debono 3/22 from five overs.
Jim Armstrong went for just five runs from three overs, but YV passed the Goannas score
in the 40th over.
The Over 60s travel to Canterbury on Sunday.
