ON Saturday, Traralgon Tyers United faced Yallourn Yallourn North in the North Gippsland-Football Netball League 2022 Reserves Grand Final at Heyfield FNC.
YYN supporters were out in force, but it wasn’t enough fuel to get the Jets off the ground; the dominating 2022 season Reserves team was defeated by TTU in an unexpected 10.11 (71) to 2.7 (19) spanking.
It was a sombre atmosphere among the YYN supporters as the Jets trailed the Bombers 9.9 (63) to 1.4 (10) at the end of the third quarter.
TTU’s Joel Poole had a high-scoring game, kicking his fifth and final goal minutes before the game’s end after taking a mark inside the 50, sending the ball straight through the goal’s guts.
YYN replied within the minute as Bailey Brown kicked the Jets’ second goal of the game.
The final siren resonated across the field, and YYN players dishearteningly dropped their heads in defeat, others falling completely to the ground.
TTU’s Guy Sinclair was voted best on ground.

Great day: Guy Sinclair throws his son in the air in celebration after receiving his best on ground medal.

Tyler Mustoe, Joel Poole, Nicholas Albanese, Adam Brady and Tyler Mudita were also prominent players on the Bombers’ side.
Todd Rowe was the best of the Jets with good performances from Chris Mathe, Blake Dyson, Bailey Brown, Dale Walshe and Gavin Pearson.
TTU celebrated their win at the field’s centre as friends and supporters crowded to congratulate the 2022 NGFNL premiers.
