North Gippsland
NORTH Gippsland netball produced some swinging results in Round 6.
Out at Rosedale, Woodside managed to get the best of the Blues with a 60 to 53 finish, which now places the Wildcats back inside the finals fixture and drops Rosedale to a win-loss record of 2-4 as they arrive at their bye.
Glengarry got back on the winner’s sheet with a tempered 10-goal win in Cowwarr, 48-38.
The win was much-needed for the Magpies, who had gone two weeks without a victory following a startling one-goal loss to Yallourn Yallourn North.
Traralgon Tyers United got the job done against Gormandale, winning 52-38 o the road, to place themselves nicely inside the top four.
Sale City was not about to take their foot off the pedal even slightly against the bottom-ranked Yarram, with a huge 106-15 final margin at Stephenson Park.
The Bulldogs are still yet to drop a game, and look to be early premiership fancies. They play Heyfield in two weeks, who are the only remaining undefeated team in the competition.
At Yallourn North, Churchill got a hold of the Jets with a 63-38 result that put the Cougars third on the ladder to the aforementioned unblemished sides.
Mid Gippsland
NETBALL across Mid Gippsland in Round 6 didn’t shift anyone’s opinions for how the rest of the season plays out, but the matchups were intriguing.
In the battle of the birds, Yinnar claimed victory over Morwell East, 44-37, in a clash that looks bound to pop up again once finals hits.
Foster bested Boolarra, 70-59, in a desperate day for both sides as they push to break into the top six to earn a finals qualification.
Newborough dealt Thorpdale their sixth consecutive loss out the gate, while the Bulldogs get their second.
Fish Creek smacked Mirboo North, 64-34, despite the Tigers strong start and the Kangaroos limited hit outs to begin the season.
Top-placed Meeniyan Dumbalk United defeated Stony Creek 55-29, to put the Demons to a 5-0 start to the year on the win-loss ledger.
Toora defeated Tarwin, 43-31, which keeps the Magpies in sixth place over Newborough.
Gippsland League : League-wide bye.
THERE was no play in the Gippsland League, as the competition rested with a bye.
