VICTORIA Police is holding a road policing and safety forum in Morwell on Monday, September 30.
The conference comes as lives lost reaches 211 state wide for a second year, with Latrobe Valley numbers at four lives lost and 29 serious injuries. In 2023 and 2024, the number of lives lost reached a 15-year high across the state.
With the concern in numbers, Victoria Police are inviting the community to join them at the Morwell RSL from 7pm to 9pm to receive public feedback as to what their safety concerns are and possible solutions to those concerns.
“We know that road fatalities and serious injuries, affect so many people in our community,” Acting Senior Sergeant Andrew Milbourne said.
“The idea is to get feedback from the community as to see what their issues are and possibly some solutions to what issues they do have. The aim is to make sure that we don’t have any empty seats at Christmas dinner tables this year.
“It’s all about listening to the public and finding out what their safety issues, what we can do about it and if we are not doing anything about it, maybe they have got some ideas on how to fix that problem.”
The event is free, but Victoria Police are encouraging attendees to register.
