CRICKET
THE Express editor and his Morwell equivalent may have met their match for biggest cricket badger.
The country’s most prolific sportswriter, Ken Piesse, will visit Traralgon Library and Moe Cricket Club this week to launch his new book 100 Not Out, celebrating a centenary of Victorian bush cricket.
Piesse says the feats of the Latrobe Valley’s favourite cricketing son, Peter Siddle may never be equalled.
Still playing major league cricket at Big Bash level at the age of 41, Siddle was timed at 140km/h last summer, an extraordinary speed from one of Australia’s most popular and durable cricketers.

As part of the Gippsland leg of his tour, Piesse will also visit Moe Cricket Club at Ted Summerton.
The Lions set an equal Victorian country cricket record by winning eight first grade premierships in a row from 2005/06 to 2012/13.
“Cricket people are salt of the earth and Moe’s record of winning eight A Grade flags was no accident,” Piesse said.
Piesse’s latest work is his 71st on cricket.
His free talk at the Traralgon library will take place this Thursday (October 8) from 1.15pm.
Editor’s note: Ken has written some of cricket’s greatest literature. I do however recall a Central Gippsland Cricket Association presentation he was booked at as the guest speaker. Fair to say the CGCA should have also booked an orchestra to get him off stage to stop talking – Liam Durkin.
