FORTUNA ’60
By ALLAN ROBERTS
FORTUNA ’60 Soccer Club is laying the foundations for an exciting new chapter, with the club confirming key appointments to its senior men’s coaching team ahead of the 2027 season.
The club is also inviting past, present and prospective players to join the journey.
Mark Cassar has been appointed senior men’s coach and head of football operations, while Josh Tanti is returning to take charge of the reserves.
Fortuna is building a coaching structure focused on player development, clear pathways and long-term progress.
The appointments come as the Morwell-based club prepares to launch its preseason campaign, with the message to players and supporters clear: the road to 2027 starts now.
CASSAR, fresh off a coaching stint at South Melbourne, will lead Fortuna ’60’.
Under the banner of “Building the next chapter of Fortuna ’60 football”, Cassar’s appointment represents an important step in the club’s preparation for the seasons ahead.
The club’s stated priorities include player development, strengthening pathways and pursuing state league success, while maintaining the values that underpin Fortuna ’60: community, teamwork, respect and progress.
The challenge is to now bring those ambitions to life on the training ground, establishing a strong football environment and creating the foundations for sustained improvement.
Cassar will be central to shaping the senior program, as Fortuna looks to unite its playing group behind a common vision for 2027 and beyond.
TANTI will step into the reserves coaching role for the 2027 season.
The club says Tanti brings a keen focus on developing emerging players and a passion for the game, qualities it believes will make him a strong fit for the position and a solid support to Cassar.
His appointment is an important part of the club’s wider senior coaching structure, with the reserves providing an opportunity for players to continue developing their skills, gaining experience and working towards their senior football goals.
With Tanti back at the club, Fortuna will be looking to build a competitive and united reserves group while supporting the development of its up-and-coming players.
The club is confident his experience and knowledge will prove valuable as the playing group begins preparations for the new campaign.

WITH its coaching appointments taking shape, Fortuna ’60 is now calling on current, past and new players to get involved as preseason begins.
The club’s first preseason session will take place next Tuesday (November 10) at The Den (Crinigan Road Reserve, Morwell) from 6.30pm.
The opening session will give players the opportunity to meet the new senior coaching staff, hear about their vision and planning for the season, and begin preparing for the challenges of 2027.
For returning players, it will be a chance to reconnect with teammates and establish the standards for the season. For new recruits, it offers an opportunity to meet the coaches, learn more about the club and become a part of the Fortuna ’60 community.
The invitation is open to players of suitable experience who want to contribute to the club’s future.
FORTUNA ’60 is more than a club.
This message extends beyond results on the pitch.
Community, teamwork, respect and progress remain at the heart of the club’s identity, with an emphasis on creating an environment where players can belong, develop and work towards shared goals.
The appointments of Cassar and Tanti provide the club with an opportunity to bring those principles into its senior football program, connecting player development with a broader vision for the future.
With the coaching team taking shape and preseason approaching, Fortuna will be hoping to build early momentum and encourage a strong turnout at The Den.
The club’s slogan, “One Club, One Community, One Family” captures the approach as it looks ahead to the new season.
THE club is encouraging anyone considering playing in 2027 to take the opportunity to get involved early.
Whether returning to the club, coming back to football or looking for a new challenge, prospective players are welcome to attend the opening session and meet the people helping shape the club’s future.
The coaches are in place, the plans are taking shape, now it’s time for the players to buy in.
