A retired Newborough couple have started the new year $666,666.67 richer after winning a division one prize in Wednesday Lotto on 26 December.
The winning great grandmother said she was stunned at the news.
“I’ve been playing lotto with Tatts since it started around 40 years ago,” she said.
“My husband has been ill for some time and I’ve been caring for him so this is great news.
“In fact, we’ve been married for 66 years and just won $666,666, so six might be our lucky number.”
She said they would use the money to help other family members as well.
She said the staff at Newborough Lotto, where she purchased the ticket, were lovely.
“I regularly visit the shop and everyone there is wonderful,” she said.
“It’s very exciting for them to sell a winning ticket too.”
There were three winning entries in the draw, with the other two in New South Wales.
