Lucky Lady returns home

A border collie which went missing from a Traralgon dog rescue centre last month has been reunited with its carer, after pleas for the dog’s return went viral online.

The five year-old bitch, known as ‘Lady’, went missing three weeks ago from dog rehabilitation centre, Kaya’s Mission, sparking fears from centre coordinator Meg Dobson the ’emotionally fragile’ dog would not survive long by itself.

After Ms Dobson’s pleas for help in locating Lady went viral – leading to a follow up story in The Express – the lost dog was recognised in an industrial estate in Traralgon’s east.

“I was absolutely stoked to see her; she would’ve been to the point that she was absolutely buggered, clearly at the point of no return,” Ms Dobson said.

“She was very dazed and very thin when she was handed in; she was in a box, so we had her taken straight to the vets.”

Lady had been initially rescued from a puppy farm in March.

Ms Dobson said she was now keeping Lady under “lock and key”, who was only allowed to go out to toilet for 10 minutes.

“I wanted to thank everyone that was involved in finding her – it reached about 6000 people on Facebook, so when that girl picked the dog up she knew straight away to call here,” she said.
