MID GIPPSLAND
MIRBOO North Football-Netball Club has reappointed senior football coach Josh Taylor and A Grade netball coach Ebony Best for season 2022.
The Tigers senior team finished the abandoned Mid Gippsland Football-Netball League season in second position on the ladder, while the A Grade netball side ended third.
In keeping with the bizarre world of COVID, the Mirboo North senior team had a somewhat bizarre season, winning three games by under two points.
Had they of lost those three games, the Tigers would have been fighting for a place in the top six.
There was further unusual scenes later in the season when the MGFNL played a round while Melbourne was still in lockdown, the result of which meant Taylor and a host of senior players had to double up to help field a reserves side.
Mirboo North only dropped two games in A Grade netball, and the stage looked set for a tantalising qualiying final against Morwell East – a team they didn’t get a chance to play during the regular season.
The Tigers depth was a standout this season, as all four senior netball sides finished in the top four.
The Under 17 team also went through the year undefeated, and it is expected a number of promising young players will progress seamlessly to senior ranks.
Taylor and Best have both tasted
premiership success, and will be looking to add to the Tigers trophy cabinet next season.
