CAMPERS and visitors in areas north of Walhalla and nearby Aberfeldy have been told to evacuate the area as firefighters battle a blaze.
Residents of Coongulla, Cowwarr, Glenmaggie, Seaton and Toongabbie have been advised they may see smoke from this fire.
According to reports, about 40 firefighters and five helicopters are trying to control the blaze.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a fire weather warning for Thursday, 17 January, warning of hot to very hot and dry conditions in areas including central Gippsland.
Meanwhile, fire crews near Pakenham are also battling an out-of-control grassfire on Thursday afternoon.
