TAFEs expand collaboration

A tertiary education partnership between AdvanceTAFE and GippsTAFE is expected to be announced in early 2014, amid an ongoing restructure prompted by the State Government’s TAFE sector funding overhaul.

AdvanceTAFE chair Scott Rossetti said the institutions were well advanced in exploring possible collaborations between themselves, Chisholm TAFE and Federation University to explore the “best fit” operational model for organisational objectives and stakeholder needs.

“It is in the interests of the students, employers and industry of eastern Victoria that we are working together to enhance the viability of Vocational Education and Training in the region, and make sure that whatever arrangements are to be funded by government, we must have reforms in place that ensure sustainability into the future,” Mr Rossetti said.

The update comes after GippsTAFE announced it had entered direct talks with Chisholm TAFE to explore joint business and operational model options late last month.
