A new board of the Country Fire Authority was appointed by the State Government on Friday.
The board will be chaired by Greg Smith AM, with Michelle McLean to serve as deputy chair.
Other members appointed were Pam White, Dr Gillian Sparkes and Simon Weir.
Emergency Services Minister James Merlino said the board brought together decades of experience in governance, industrial law, public policy and financial management.
He said the new board would drive cultural change in the CFA, with a focus on lifting morale and ending the deep divide between senior management and firefighters identified in the Fire Services Review.
“The board’s first priority will be to resolve the long running enterprise agreement dispute so that volunteer and career firefighters can focus on fighting fires and keeping their communities safe,” Mr Merlino said.
In accordance with the Country Fire Authority Act, Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria will nominate a further four members to join the board.
CFA chief executive Lucinda Nolan announced her resignation on Friday afternoon shortly after the board’s appointment.
Leading Victorian health sector executive Frances Driver has been named as her replacement.
