Armed robberies in Morwell

Police have charged a 23 year-old man following two alleged armed robberies in Morwell on Friday.

According to Victoria Police, the first armed robbery occurred at a store on Commercial Road about 11.30am where a man allegedly produced a knife and made demands for cash.

It is believed a short time later the same man allegedly attended a second store on Church Street, produced a knife and made demands for cash.

The man and a 25-year-old woman, both from Morwell, were arrested on Monash Way, Churchill about 4pm on Friday.

The man was charged with three counts of armed robbery and was remanded to appear at Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court today.

The Morwell woman was released pending further enquiries.

Suspicious grass fire near Glengarry

LATROBE Criminal Investigation Unit is investigating a suspicious grass fire in Glengarry North on 10 June.

According to police, the fire occurred along the Traralgon Maffra Road near Frasers Lane about 1.15pm.

Computers stolen from school

A 14 year-old youth has been taken into custody following an alleged break and enter at Traralgon’s Stockdale Road Primary School.

Traralgon police were called to the school about 2.30am Friday after they received reports that a number of computers and goods were stolen.

The 14 year-old was taken into custody a short time later and most the goods were retrieved.
