Latrobe Regional Hospital’s lung function testing service will resume today following the arrival of new equipment from Germany.
The service has been out of action for the past month after the lung function testing equipment was destroyed by a fire in the hospital’s consulting suites.
The equipment, which was insured, was funded by the State Government last year coinciding with the reopening of the Hazelwood Mine Fire Inquiry.
The new Latrobe Lung Function facility has been set up in a treatment room on the first floor of the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre.
The service will begin seeing patients this week.
Lung function tests measure lung capacity and their effectiveness in distributing oxygen into the blood stream.
An innovative family violence app has won the inaugural Victorian Premier’s iAward.
The Domestic Violence Resource Centre Victoria’s SmartSafe+ app helps women safely and securely collect detailed evidence, in order to obtain a protection order or prove a breach of one.
It collects photographs, video and recordings and saves them off-device to ensure the evidence can be protected and used in court.
The app won the award in the Public Sector Innovation category at the Australian Information Industry Association Victorian iAwards Gala.
