Forty kilograms of fresh fruit and vegetables from the yards of local residents and students has been shared with the broader community in the first two weeks of the ‘Get Swapped’ program.
An initiative of ReActivate Latrobe Valley, the program provides local drop-off points for surplus home-grown produce to be snapped up.
Locals can donate their scrumptious fruit and veggies, swap, or simply take what they need.
Rhubarb, lemon, lime, mint, parsley and apples are among the produce so far shared as part of the initiative, which started last month.
Project manager Lizi Maskiell (pictured) said the haul was very promising.
Drop-off and pick-up points are the Reactivate Latrobe Valley office, 226 Commercial Road, Morwell; the VRI Hall, 18-20 Queens Parade, Traralgon; Traralgon Neighbourhood House, Breed Street, Traralgon; and the Salvation Army, Moore Street, Moe, during business hours.
