‘Make, bake and grow’ is the theme of a new monthly community market coming to Moe at the High Street Community Hub.
The idea came from last year’s Community Christmas Market after stallholders and community members expressed their interest to have a regular monthly market.
High Street Community Hub coordinator Sharyn Thompson said Moe Life Skills offered to undertake a short-term community development project to assist the members to get the market off the ground.
“This is an excellent example of community seeing a need and actually doing something about it instead of just waiting for someone else to,” Ms Thompson said.
“Moe Life Skills will support the first market with staff and from then on the community members will run it themselves.”
The market will be held in Moe Life Skills’ High Street Community Hub.
“The hub will provide the space for the market to sell things like fresh food, homemade clothing, wood work, cakes and deserts just to name a few,” Ms Thompson said.
“They are also offering community groups such as schools and local fire brigades the space for a community barbecue at each market with proceeds going directly to that community group.”
The market will be held on the second Saturday of each month from 8.30am to 2pm, starting on 8 April.
