Clothing at hand for those in need

A TRARALGON church opened its doors on Friday, April 20 for people who are doing it tough and are in need of free clothes.

Traralgon City Church senior pastor Meagan Bennet said Tabitha’s Closet was the group’s response to people who were struggling in the community.

Pastor Bennet said the idea for the project came from one of their members who gave out free clothing in Cranbourne and they thought “it’s something our community might need”.

Donated clothes from its members was available to the public on the opening day of Tabitha’s Closet.

Pastor Bennet said Tabitha’s Closet was a fantastic way to reach out to those who can’t even afford to purchase their clothing from the op shops.

“Our hope is we will be able to meet the community’s needs this way,” she said.

“If they are in a crisis situation and can’t come to us we can do something for them.”
