A 73-year-old Churchill man will have to find a new mode of transport after having his licence suspended for six months in Traralgon on Sunday night.
The man was pulled over by Latrobe Highway Patrol just before 10pm on the Princes Highway after being detected travelling at an alleged 125 kilometres per hour in a 80 kilometres per hour zone.
He was issued with a penalty notice for $661 and has lost six demerit points.
The incident formed part of Operation Regal which targeted people for speeding and drink and drug driving over the long weekend.
Latrobe Highway Patrol Acting Sergeant Paul Douglas said seven people had their licences suspended in the Latrobe Valley for driving more than 25 kilometres per hour over the limit.
He also said numerous fines were issued for people passing emergency service vehicles at more than 40 kilometres per hour, including one to a 50-year-old from Moe who was caught driving while suspended.
Traralgon woman airlifted
An unlicensed driver is expected to be charged on summons after allegedly failing to give way to an oncoming car at Hazelwood North on Monday.
Emergency services were called to a two-car collision at the intersection of Saunders and Hazelwood roads about 1.30pm on Monday.
Police said the car driven by a 23-year-old Traralgon woman collided with an oncoming car heading towards Churchill.
The 23-year-old woman was taken to Latrobe Regional Hospital for assessment and is expected to be charged with driving an unregistered vehicle, displaying false plates, unlicensed driving and failing to give way.
The driver of the other car, a 36-year-old Traralgon woman, was flown to The Alfred in a non-life threatening condition.
