A man has been remanded in custody after allegedly assaulting his neighbour with a glass bottle at Moe on Tuesday night.
Phillip Archie Dow, 48, fronted the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court yesterday for a filing hearing charged with assault, trespass, intentionally causing injury and criminal damage.
Mr Dow, who was represented by Victorian Legal Aid, did not make an application for bail but the court heard he was withdrawing from a drug of dependence and was about to undergo a further round of chemotherapy.
The accused alleged he was assaulted while being held in police cells and had bruising and a possible fracture to his wrist or arm, his lawyer told the court.
His lawyer also stated Mr Dow was an “Indigenous person” living with an intellectual disability.
Mr Dow was also charged with damaging a flat screen TV.
He was remanded in custody and will face Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on November 5.
Man arrested over crop houses
A man has been arrested after police busted two cannabis crop houses at Morwell this week.
Police raided the Waratah Drive and Airlie Bank Road properties about 7am on Monday where more than 200 cannabis plants were found.
A 57-year-old man was arrested and is assiting police with their investigation.
