MAJOR Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a serious collision that occurred in Traralgon on Sunday.
Local patrol officers came across three unregistered motorbikes on Garibaldi Street about 2.40pm.
As police attempted to intercept the motorcyclists, a collision occurred with one of the riders who had come up behind them.
Following the incident, the rider, a 14-year-old male from Yallourn North, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
The officers involved in the collision were also taken to hospital as a precaution with none of them being injured as a result.
The remaining two riders accompanying the 14-year-old did not stop and rode away from the scene.
Professional Standards Command will oversee the investigation as per standard protocols when it comes to incidents where a police vehicle is involved in a serious collision.
