AGL is expected to announce it will bring forward the closure of Loy Yang A to between 2040 and 2045 at this morning’s half-yearly results presentation to stakeholders.
Documents seen by the Express state the company is expecting to close Loy Yang A no later than 2045, bringing forward its closure from 2048.
It is also planning to close its Bayswater coal-fired power station in New South Wales in 2033.
The announcement is coming as part of AGL’s climate commitments as it plans to split the company into to two separate entities, with its coal assets to become part of Accel Energy.
