Charges laid following Traralgon robbery

DETECTIVES from the Armed Crime Squad have charged a 28-year-old man following an alleged armed robbery at a Traralgon licenced venue.

Investigators allege the man, armed with a knife and bottle of flammable liquid, attended the venue on Grey Street shortly before 11pm on Wednesday, August 5.

The man allegedly accessed the cash registers, stealing a quantity of cash.

The man poured the liquid over the floor, cash registers and bar area before slipping in the liquid, subsequently dropping a quantity of the cash and fleeing on foot.

Two staff members inside the premises at the time were not physically injured during the incident.

A 28-year-old man was arrested by NSW Police’s State Crime Command Robbery and Serious Crime Squad.

Armed Crime Squad detectives travelled to NSW on Wednesday, September 2, following the arrest of the man in Cabramatta on Tuesday, September 1.

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad sought the man’s extradition to Melbourne, which was granted by the court.

The 28-year-old was charged with:

  • Armed robbery;
  • Commit indictable offence whilst on bail;
  • Breach conduct condition of bail;
  • Intentionally expose an emergency worker on duty to risk by driving (x4);
  • Conduct endangering death, and;
  • Disqualified driving.

 

Fatal freeway collision near Moe

POLICE are investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Moe last Thursday (September 3).

It is understood two vehicles collided on the Princes Freeway about 8.10pm.

The yet-to-be identified driver of one vehicle died at the scene.

The driver of the second vehicle was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined.

The Princes Freeway remained closed in both directions while emergency crews worked to clear the scene.

Guns and drugs seized in Trafalgar

DETECTIVES from Cobram Crime Investigation Unit charged a man following the seizure of handguns, drugs and ammunition from Numurkah and Trafalgar on Wednesday, September 2.

Police seized an array of ammunition, firearms and drugs, including a loaded homemade handgun.

With the assistance from the Critical Incident Response Team, a man was arrested.

Detectives then executed a third search warrant, where they located further ammunition.

A 49-year-old Trafalgar man has been charged with multiple offences including:

  • Prohibited person possess a firearm;
  • Prohibited person possess imitation firearm;
  • Possess drug of dependence, and;
  • Possess ammunition.

He was remanded to appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, September 3.

Police apprehend stolen vehicles

POLICE attended a rural property on Pound Creek Road, Pound Creek (in South Gippsland) investigating a report of suspicious vehicles being seen at the address.

Police arrived and observed two vehicles, a white Toyota Hilux and a Black BMW SUV. A quick registration check confirmed both vehicles were outstanding as stolen. The vehicles were being driven by males.The male driver of the Hilux allegedly drove at the police vehicle, ramming it, resulting in extensive damage to both vehicles. Both stolen vehicles left the scene and were observed driving extremely dangerously and erratically on Bass Highway and through the Wonthaggi CBD before travelling onto Loch-Wonthaggi Rd in convoy.

Both stolen vehicles have now been recovered, with one in the Bass area and the second in Jam Jerrup (near Lang Lang).

Detectives from the Bass Coast Criminal Investigation Unit are appealing for any dashcam/CCTV footage, and/or any information relating to the offenders to be reported as soon as possible to Wonthaggi Police Station on 5671 4100.

 

New tool for solen cars

VICTORIA Police has launched an app, where people can look up suspicious vehicles that may be stolen.

Users can enter the registration, make or model into the app, which if it is listed as stolen, users can then report its location through the Police Assistance Line or Crime Stoppers.
