Thanks to council

IT isn’t every day that Morwell shire council gets a thank you.

But it did last week, from the Latrobe Valley Junior Football League.

The Juniors thanked the council for allowing them the use of the Morwell oval for their semi finals.

Without Morwell council’s support, they said, it would be impossible for them to promote junior football effectively.

Dairy education program for Gipps

INDUSTRY leaders, educators, politians and local business people will gather in Traralgon on Thursday for the launch of a management education program for Gippsland dairy farmers.

A number of Victoria’s leading dairy farmers have contributed to the design of the program developed by the Australian Insitute of Management following a workshop in November 1995.

The first module deals with ‘visionary leadership development’ and the second module covers strategic and financial planning. The program concludes with ‘leading, coaching and mentoring’.

Having completed the course, farmers should be better able to meet the managerial demands of all aspects of their operation to ensure their large and growing businesses are efficient and profitable over the long term.

The Gippsland program will be launched at the Latrobe Motel and Convention Centre between 8am and 9am.

Feedback sought on energy discussion paper

VICTORIANS are invited to have their say on the future of community renewable energy projects.

Feedback on the Community Renewable Energy Projects Discussion Paper will guide the State Government’s rejuvenation of the renewable energy industry for the community projects and open the door for community wind farms.

It will also examine whether the current payment-in-lieu-of-rates methodology for power stations adequately meet the needs of small-scale and community renewable energy projects, and if not, what changes are needed.

Consultation is now open for community and stakeholder feedback until 28 November.
