Easy as it seams

RENOWNED left arm swing bowler Nathan Bracken shared some simple tips to make the ball talk during a clinic in Traralgon last week.

“(Keep the) seam up,” he said was the most important thing to remember at all times from grip to release in order to make the new ball swing. To me, and through my whole career, it was about controlling the seam position,” he said.

A simple practice method for aspiring quicks is to grip the ball (as pictured) and practice flicking the ball out of the fingers while maintaining an upright seam position.

“It’s the feel out of the fingers; as soon as you let it go you know if you’ve got it right or not,” Bracken said.

“It’s just practice.”
