NIKE and Babolat fought out an enthralling Traralgon Tuesday women’s tennis contest, continuing the season trend last week.
Babolat looked too strong early in the match winning the first two sets 8-4, 8-2, however Nike bounced back with consecutive set wins to trail by six games.
Cheryl White and Pat Murdoch came out fighting late in the match to claim their set comfortably 8-1.
A titanic struggle in the determining final set boiled down to a tie breaker.
Babolat snatched the set and held on to draw three sets all, 37 games all in a fight to the death.
Yonnex had a good 4-2 (42-40) win over Prince, which saw it jump up the ladder into second position.
Sharon Cummings led Yonnex with three set wins.
Reebok experienced an unsettled match, with two emergencies required to fill their number four player position.
Patrice Fitzpatrick kept her feet on the ground to provide a steadying influence for the beleaguered Reebok team.
Puma lost four of six sets in close contests while winning the other two comfortably.
Reebok’s four sets saw it win the tie 4-2, however Puma unusually boasted more game wins 40-36.
Dunlop had a comfortable 5-1 (45-24) win over Adidas to climb into fifth position.
Both Jan Cadwallader and Marissa Ravenhall for Dunlop played terrific tennis and bettered their opponents all day.
