Gippsland juniors hit the big stage

A SPATTERING of Gippsland’s top junior soccer players are in action for Warragul United this week at the largest soccer tournament in the southern hemisphere – the Kanga Cup.

United’s under 15 metropolitan ‘A’ squad travelled to Canberra for the 25th edition of the Cup, which features some 300 teams from around Australia and overseas.

Warragul currently sits at the top of the southern A league ladder after an impressive run of 11 straight victories, amassing 47 goals and conceding only five along the way.

The development squad was implemented by the club to further develop talented players and to provide a pathway for the transition from junior football to representation in the club’s senior state league sides.
