Bullets bruised by Valley

LATROBE Valley sides dished Bairnsdale a bruising weekend in round three of the Country Basketball League Gippsland conference, as the Bullets went 0-4 across the senior grades.

The Bairnsdale men and women were both beaten down in their respective double headers against Traralgon and Moe.

The T-Birds women set the dismal tone for the Bullets on Saturday in a 99-35 thrasing, led by Leisl Sexton (23 points) and Rachel Drennan (20).

Moe issued more of the same to the travelling east Gippslanders on Sunday in the form of a 100-49 drubbing.

Danielle Davies (27), Emily Donoghue (15), Carly Mullen-Bianconi (15) and Demi Plunkett (14) were all among the points.

Bairnsdale’s men came close against Traralgon but ultimately fell four points shy, before dropping the bundle in a 50-point loss to the Meteors.

The Valley’s other side Churchill had a split result against Western Port, with the women coming up trumps while the men fell by nine points.

Tanarly Hood again led the Blue Devils’ scoring with 28 in the women’s game, while Andrew Petrou continues to amass huge numbers with another game high 36 points in a losing outfit.
