SWIMMER Emily Beecroft and biathlete Darcie Morton took out the major gongs at the 56th Annual Gippstar Awards last week at the Premiere Function Centre in Traralgon.
Multiclass swimmer Beecroft received the open athlete of the year award while Morton was named junior winner.
The Lowanna under 15 boys basketball side was named team of the year while Latrobe Valley Volleyball and Bairnsdale Field and Game shared the club of the year accolade.
The Gippstar Awards have a long and proud history and recognise high level sporting achievements by talented Gippslanders across a variety of different sporting pursuits.
There were 24 awards received in the monthly categories in both open and junior divisions.
