Irvine wins on handicap

The Harriers turned out at St Gabriel’s primary school on Thursday for a five-kilometre, three-lap course.

Tom Irvine finished the run in 23:50 earning him first position on handicap.

Irvine is having an excellent season consistently finishing in the top handicap positions.

Tania Whitehead was second on handicap finishing just five seconds before Tim Buckley both on handicap and actual time.

There was a contest for the fastest outright time of the night which was recorded by Biasi Silvestro (19:24) who stole the place by one second from Glenn Graham (19:25).

Tony Arrowsmith ran a swift 20:40 to round out the top three fastest times.

For the women, the ever-consistent Kaye Frost ran an impressive 23:18 ahead of Liz Kenney (23:34) and 12-year-old Arlia Whitehead (23:35).

This Thursday’s run will be the Park Lane/Smith Street five-kilometre handicap including an intermediate run of 3.3 kilometres and a junior event of 1.2 kilometres.

Starting time is 5.50pm.

The Barry and Carol Summersgill runs are on Sunday, August 26 at the Edward Hunter Reserve in Moe, with 12 kilometre, eight kilometre and relay events.
