FORTUNA produced a dominant performance to win the Kendall Cup men’s final in Sale recently.
The Morwell-based club completed a fine campaign with a convincing 5-0 win against Leongatha Knights in the final.
The medal for best on ground in the final was presented to Fortuna’s Damon Scott.
It was the first time in more than a decade that Fortuna had qualified for the final of the popular tournament.
The Orangemen defeated Bayside United 1-0 in the semi-final to qualify for the big one.
Ethan Bath (Leongatha) was named as player of the tournament, with Jayden Steele (East Gippsland) collecting the golden boot and Toby Gale (Leongatha) awarded top goalkeeper.
Bayside United won the women’s Kendall Cup title after overcoming Sale United in a penalty shootout.
Scores were 1-1 at the end of extra time, resulting in the final being decided from the spot.
Bayside prevailed 6-5 in the shootout, a big result for the Melbourne-based National Premier Leagues club.
Sale United ace Anouk Meereboer was the women’s player of the tournament and golden boot winner, with young gun Hollie Ryan collecting the player of the final award.
Goalkeeper of the tournament went to Breanna East (East Gippsland).
