ALL Strzelecki North Midweek Bowls grand finals were played at Newborough on Tuesday, March 22 in front of an excellent crowd on a lovely day for bowls.
Newborough had all four of its teams in the finals and won three with their only loss being in Division 1 where Traralgon was too strong.
It was a great effort by Newborough to have all four sides in the grand final and greenkeeper Scott Jones once more provided an excellent surface to play on.
DIVISION 1
TRARALGON, after a slow start was too strong for Newborough and with only one rink up, that of Pat Trewin and her team of Elaine Swan, Ron Baker and Matthew Higgins, had a 29-12 victory over Debbie Kennedy and her rink of Josh Kennedy, Barry Daley and Fran Clark to give Traralgon the premiership.
After holding a commanding lead early Jo-Anne Michaels and her rink of Ed and Mary Whelan
together with Nosha Michaels held on for a 23-20 win over Kathy Smiles and her rink of Chris Thomas, Rosie Lorenz and Phil Mustoe who fought strongly to help put Traralgon in a
winning position.
Joan Goldie and her rink of Bob Goldie, Jeff Wetzel and Julie Jackson had a 19-16 win
over Paddy Francis and her rink of Carolyn Roscholler, Bill Francis and Barry Fernance leaving Traralgon the winners by 11 shots and ready to play Phillip Island with the winner representing Strzelecki Bowls Region in the state finals.

DIVISION 2
HEATHER Mooney and her rink of Wayne Butler, Denise Young and Michael Holroyd led the way with a 29-17 win over May Cross and her rink of Bill Kirby, Barbara Scott and
Graham Cross.
Carmel Goss and her team of Glenys Perkins, Jenny Cocks and Robbert Cook had a 24-18 win over Dettie Wylie and her rink of Lee Olding, Bob Dykstra and Chris Ward.
For Traralgon (2), Lyn Bloomfield and her rink of Matt Ogilvie, Frank Stake and Janis Kirby had a 21-18 win over Adrienne Birchall and her rink of Ruth Verhagen, Chris Cunningham and Graham Cocks leaving Newborough (2) the winners by 15 shots.
Newborough (2) 71 defeated Traralgon (2) 56
Winners: Newborough claimed the Division 2 premiership, making it three out of the four flags on offer.
DIVISION 3
IN a reverse of the second semi-final result Joy Cadby and her team of Helen Grubb, Ken Bechaz and Phil Marston had a 29-11 win over Meredith Kennon and her rink of Leanne Emond, Peter Bramley and Tim Roche.
Marcia Evans and her rink of Keith Evans, Dianne Bertoli and Iain Preston had a 22-18 win over Jennie Harris and her rink of John O’Neill, Russ Peters and Jenny Jones.
Hilarie Anstey and her rink of Robert Hooper, Betty Fox and Murray De La Haye defeated Ann-Mary Ryan and her rink of Lyn Madden, Natalie Lambos and Jim Cuthbertson 25-17 to bring Yinnar close to a win, however, they were 14 shots adrift of the winners when the ends ran out.
Newborough (3) 68 defeated Yinnar 54

DIVISION 4
JOAN Lee and her team of Sheila Derooij, Peter Policha and Maurie Ludlow had a 33-23 win over Debra Beary and her team of Col Carmichael, Bev Webb and Ed Davies.
Betty Williams and her rink of Sue Sutherland, Frank Andrews and Kevin Myrteza had a 26-11 win over Sharon McRae and her rink of Mandy Miles, Robert Connell and Noel Morland.
Newborough (4) 59 defeated Trafalgar (3) 34
Effort: Newborough won the Division 4 flag.
