MOE Racing Club hosted an eight-card meeting last Thursday (June 18).

Damp conditions saw the track rated a Heavy 9 throughout.

Local trainers Peter Gelagotis and Paul and Tracey Templeton enjoyed success.

Gelagotis’ gelding Mongolian City won the Race 6 Triangle Trophy Service BM62 Handicap over 1200 metres.

The four-year-old jumped reasonably well and went forward for an early lead.

It led at both the 800 metre and 400 metres, when it kicked on to win by just under a length.

The win attracted good praise from punters, in a performance that belied its $8.00 starting price.

The Templetons won the last race of the meeting – the Race 8 S&S Equipment Rental & Sales BM65 Handicap (1614m).

Their five-year-old gelding Infinite Jest continued its strong form, winning by a length-and-a-half.

Infinite Jest has won or placed in its last four starts, including three at Moe.

Elsewhere, Moe Racing Club again showed it has a track of high repute, attracting jockey’s the calibre of Jye McNeil.

The Melbourne Cup-winning jockey rode Foxsky to an easy win in the Race 2 Dressed to the Nines 3YO Maiden Plate (1200m) for Cindy Alderson.

Alderson had another winner straight after, with Too Tough getting the job done in the Race 3 Hygain Maiden Plate (1208m).

Ciaron Maher (generally accepted as one of the best trainers in the country) also sent horses to Moe last Thursday.

His three-year-old filly Always Free ran third in the Race 1 Ladbrokes Hosted Pots Maiden Plate (1614m), won by French Romance for Robbie Griffiths.

Traralgon Cup-winning jockey Jamie Mott rode the winner of the Race 4 Trafalgar Tyre Service Maiden Plate (1008m) on board Blue Humma for John McArdle.

Other winners were Nasraawy in the Race 5 Ladbrokes Place Extra to 10th BM56 Handicap (1008m) for Gavin Bedggood and Unapproachable for Enver Jusufovic in the Race 7 Ladbrokes Owners Promotion Fillies & Mares BM62 Handicap (1208m).

Moe Racing Club’s next meeting is Friday, July 3. The club will host another Tools Down, Heads Up session for apprentices the day before. The sessions aim to support those on their early working journey through mental health and financial counselling support.

Moe Football-Netball Club is continuing to hold its Thursday night meals at Moe Racing Club while Ted Summerton Reserve is being redeveloped.
