GIPPSLAND’S premier greyhound Luca Neveelk is primed for an assault on tomorrow’s Melbourne Cup and a memorable 72nd birthday present for his owner.
Luca’s Denison trainer Gerry Kleeven’s birthday could be a very happy one should the two-and-a-half year-old claim the $420,000 prize for first past the post.
The dog enhanced birthday celebrations for Gerry’s wife Rose last week by qualifying through the Cup heats at Sandown, and the couple will be hoping for more of the same in the final.
