The wait is finally over as the Traralgon and District Cricket Association begins its finals action this weekend.
With the heavy rain last week, the much anticipated final day of home and away cricket never eventuated, and the final four remained the same.
The sides in the four deserved their spots with important wins throughout the season.
Gormandale v Glengarry
The Tigers go into their eighth semi-final in a row when they clash with Glengarry in a rematch of last years A grade semi final.
The Tigers have had a very good season, dropping only one game and finishing clear on top.
The top three spots on the league batting chart belong to Gormandale players Adrian Burgiel, Kent Hammond and Travis Switzer.
This could prove vital, especially with the recent return of Grantley Switzer from injury.
Gormandale’s bowling remains high class with Shaun Barbour, Adam Brady and Will Cheatley providing very good options, while Jason Membrey has bowled well the last few games.
Glengarry captain Ben Marks has again had a great year with 390 runs and he holds the key to Glengarry’s fortunes.
Marks’ brothers, Sam and Frank, have also been in good form and will need to bat well to pressure the Tigers.
In the bowling, Frank Marks leads the attack with 22 wickets, while Ben Julin with 19 and Barry Little with 15 combine well.
Glengarry will be keen to atone for last year’s semi final loss, but Gormandale will enter the game favourites.
CATS v Churchill
CATS has been the big watch team all season, and after finishing second has shown it is on track for a shot at glory.
After years in the doldrums, CATS appointed former player Michael Bloomfield as captain and it has proved to be a strong move.
With the addition of five new players, CATS has been sensational.
Jack Moore, Dylan Rash, Jack Marshall, Stan Grazotis and Dan Nicholls have been terrific and will be keen to perform on the big stage.
Davin Charleston is coming into finals yet again after a very good season.
Ryan Foulkes has been the big improver with his bowling.
Brad Foster’s return from injury will be key for CATS.
Just doing enough to win the close games, the Cobras have the talent to go all the way.
John Keighran was back to his best this year, with with 389 runs and is also important with the ball.
Tim Dye and Chris Williams both have made about 200 runs and must produce for the Cobras to have a chance.
Mick Debono is a finals specialist and his bowling is hard to get away.
Nathan Campbell and Dean Degroot will add good variety with their leg spin.
In an even match CATS with the home ground advantage might just sneak home.
