A PREMATURE end to round five of the British Superbike Series superstock 600 race saw Glengarry’s Ben Currie awarded a fourth place finish at Knockhill.
The red flags came out and the race declared after 14 laps when rain set in with seven laps remaining.
The stoppage meant Currie earned 13 points, keeping him second in the championship race on 100, 16 shy of Mason Law.
After scoring his maiden win the previous round at Snetterton, Currie qualified third on the grid and looked good until the rain came.
“A tough day in the office. Morning warm-up got off to a great start with me finishing the session in P1 and we carried the momentum into the race by making a great start and snatching first place off Mason Law who we knew we had to beat in terms of the championship,” Currie said.
“I led for a few laps until the rain came down and I started riding conservatively.
“The others pushed on like there was no rain and came past me so I ended up fourth which is still good as I only dropped three points to championship leader.”
The next round will be staged at Brands Hatch in a fortnight.
