The Valley’s passion for quality customer service was on display at the Latrobe City Business Tourism Association’s People’s Choice awards this week, where a record number of voter’s participated in hospitality’s night of nights.
Experiencing a 250 per cent increase in votes on last year, project officer Leah Bell said organisers were “blown away” by the community’s enthusiasm, with 2500 people voting across the competition’s 14 categories.
“We had a 30 per cent increase in the number of businesses nominated from every town in Latrobe City, we had Yinnar, Boolarra, Glengarry and Churchill represented, which is a really exciting result,” Ms Bell said.
“The participation overall increased was the ‘wow’ factor for me; to have so many businesses participate after six years running is just fantastic.”
Ms Bell put the competition’s increased popularity down to good promotion and an effective social media campaign.
Traralgon’s Century Inn shone after taking out the evening’s ‘Champion’s Champion’ award for receiving the most overall votes.
“The standard of service you receive there is just ‘wow’, their functions are of a high quality, their accommodation and staff are next to none,” Ms Bell said.
