Cheers to that

WITH a hearty ‘prost!’ more than 1500 people helped Latrobe Valley’s German community celebrate Oktoberfest on Saturday.

Revellers donned traditional costumes and enjoyed German music and dancing combined with all the typical food from the region – and of course a selection of beers – at Club Astoria in Morwell.

While the day started in glorious morning sunshine, the afternoon’s torrential rain failed to deter those looking for their piece of German culture.

Club president Giselle Scorse said organisers were happy with the day.

“There was a lot of other stuff going on around the town but our event was really well supported,” she said.

Club Astoria members will now turn their attention to December’s Christkindl Market.
