Member for Morwell Russell Northe is encouraging parents with leftover unused nappies to donate them to the Nappy Collective Giving Project.
Mr Northe said the Nappy Collective Project aimed to collect hundreds of thousands of leftover nappies from 370 official drop points in 31 towns and cities across Australia.
“The unused nappies will be distributed to women’s shelters, programs for homeless mothers, organisations that support victims of domestic violence and young mothers in need,” Mr Northe said.
He said the Nappy Collective was launched in 2013 after a group of mothers had some leftover nappies their children had grown out of.
Unsure of what to do with the nappies, they decided to donate them to families less fortunate.
Mr Northe’s office on George Street, Morwell, is a registered collection point for unused nappies with donations being accepted from now until Friday, 30 October.
