THE South Gippsland Miners announced its presence in the Latrobe Valley Baseball Association at the weekend by notching up its first victory for the season over Sale.
The Rangers coughed up an early lead and the Miners capitalised to win 15-13.
With the score tied at 10-10 in the eighth inning, Colin Knox came to the plate and singled, scoring Tim Katz.
Knox racked up three runners-batted-in on four hits for the Miners on the day.
Each team blasted the other’s pitching, and there were 28 total runs and 44 hits during the game.

The Rangers scored three runs in the ninth on two doubles and an RBI single by Lachlan Wrigglesworth, but still fell short.
The Miners bats fired all game as seven hitters combined for 19 hits, 14 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
The Traralgon Redsox jumped out to an early lead on the Churchill Braves and captured a 22-4 victory on Sunday.
With 10 runs in the first three innings, the Traralgon Redsox left no doubt about the eventual outcome.
A fielder’s choice, an RBI single by Matt Robertson, a two-run single by Jordan Spiteri, and an RBI double by Blake Townsend during the first inning set the tone.
An RBI single by Jordan Gilmore, a hit by pitch, a two-run single by Jordan Spiteri, and an RBI single by John Kus in the second inning continued the assault.
Gilmore racked up two RBIs on four hits for the Redsox, while Caleb Poole pitched lights out.
Poole held the Churchill Braves hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
Six Traralgon hitters combined for 16 hits, 18 RBIs and 14 runs scored in the rout.
