Latrobe Valley’s businesses and organisations were recognised last week at an annual gala awards night as voted by the people of the area.
Hosted by the Latrobe City Business Tourism Association, businesses were awarded for excellence in customer service, as well as ‘most popular’ tourist attraction and community organisation.
LCBTA project officer Krystal Kosakiewicz said attendance was up on last year’s event, with the awards gaining about 1000 more votes this year.
“[The awards are] people’s choice, so it’s the people that vote for them and who are experiencing the businesses first hand,” Ms Kosakiewicz said.
“I think (the businesses are) really getting into it, they really promote the awards, it just gives them that boost of confidence and recognition that they are doing a good job, are helping local community and supporting jobs in the area.”
