Hill End appoint co-coach

The dust may have not long settled on the 2016 season, but that has not stopped Hill End Football Netball Club announcing the signing of ruckman Mark Bradley as its playing senior co-coach for next year.

Bradley, who has won league and club best and fairest awards across Australia, and represented a number of state teams, will share the senior coaching role with incumbent coach Paul Smit.

The qualified personal trainer returns to football after a two-year break, which he said has made him fresh and determined.

“I took a break from footy and having that time off has freshened everything up and brought the motivation and passion back,” Bradley said.

“I’ve been keen to try my hand at senior coaching and Hill End has given me the chance to do that alongside Paul Smit. While Paul will run the bench, I’ll lead the team on the ground. I can’t wait.”

Bradley, who last played for Korumburra-Bena Football Club in 2013-2014 where he won the league and club best and fairest awards, said he would bring experience and excitement to Hill End.

“I have 20 years’ senior footy experience and coupled with my qualification as a personal trainer, I look forward to sharing my knowledge of football, nutrition and fitness with the team at Hill End,” he said.

Bradley has played in state representative teams for South Australia, Queensland, Northern Territory and Victoria Country.

He played for Warragul Football Netball Club in 2012 where he won club best and fairest, and has played in the SANFL for the South Adelaide Panthers, VFL for the Bendigo Diggers, and QFL with the Southport Sharks.

In other news at Hill End, Matthew Moseley will return to the club after two years at Warragul Football Netball Club.

Moseley has been appointed assistant senior coach and said he was looking forward to returning to the green and gold fold.

“I’m coming back home,” Moseley said.

The Hill End reserves team also has a new coach, with Darren Kelly returning to the job after a 10-year break spent as a player and administrator. Kelly previously coached the Hill End reserves to two premierships during his five years at the helm.
